Immortan Joe's Mask - Mad Max: Fury Road (2)

This is my hand crafted interpretation of Immortan Joe's gas mask from Mad Max: Fury Road. I sculpted it from the ground up, made a silicone mold of it, and then resin cast it. I hand paint each mask with heavy body acrylic paints. The head strap is real leather that I make into a custom head rig. The hoses are real gas mask hoses, found on Russian-made gas masks.

My most notable success with this piece was the sale to Conan O'Brien for his San Diego Comic Con skit this year. It is on YouTube and Andy Richter is wearing the mask!

I have since made multiple improvements, including a jaw that opens and closes, and a slight restructuring of the nose bridge in order to be more movie accurate. I embed small, high-strength magnets into the front teeth to make sure the mouth stays closed until you decide you want it open.
